My latest exploration in London took me to the pop up Igloo’s outside Coppa Club in Tower Hill. I had seen them advertised a few weeks back and as soon as they were featured in Time Out magazine, the spots were sold out for the rest of 2017 in less than a day. however I was determined to explore what it was like to dine in an igloo and turned up on Sunday with a bunch of my girlfriends. We arrived at 2pm and were told we could probably get a table at 5pm. Undeterred, we left our names and wandered around St Katherine’s dock before heading back and –hurrah!- our persistence paid off and we were given a spot inside an igloo.
The seats were draped with fur, holly and fairy lights and were surprisingly warm considering it was bitter cold outside and the igloos were only made of plastic. The food was surprisingly average and cheap. I think because the igloos look so pretty and sold out so quickly we just presumed it would be expensive, but I only paid £10 for a plate of pasta. There’s pizza/grill/salad too, not anything to rave about but it’s definitely somewhere to visit more for the experience than the actual food.
If you go in the evening, the view over London Bridge and the Thames are spectular, not to mention the beautiful Shard! With festive tunes trickling into each igloo and a glass of mulled wine in you, it’s hard not to feel festive and happy in these little pods!
Advance bookings aren’t available but if you are willing to wait/come back, then they have a waiting list every day. it’s definitely worth a visit – even if it’s just for the Instagram worthy photo!
That looks pretty cool.
