I have pestered my Dad for the last 3 years to see Cirque Du Soleil every time it toured in London in the new year, and thankfully this time he caved and agreed to go with me to see it.
We went on Friday night and as the place wasn’t full, we were able to swap seats and be just a couple of rows from the front! For those of you that haven’t been to the Royal Albert Hall, I urge you to go. It’s INCREDIBLE! It’s so majestic and feels as though you are stepping into an extravagant piece of British history.
The show that is currently running is called ‘Amaluna,’ a tale loosely based on ‘The Tempest’ by Shakespeare. It tells the story of a group of men who end up an exotic island after a storm capsizing their boat and they come across a bevvy of goddesses. One man falls for the queen’s daughter and the rest of the story revolves around his quest to make her his.
Even though I had high expectations, the show still completely blew my mind. A friend had said the first half passed so quickly she was shocked when they announced it was the interval, and I have to admit I felt the same.
There is so much going on in every scene. A collection of acrobatics, trapezes, incredible gymnastics, powerful ballads and fantastic costumes. My eyes were constantly darting around the stage not sure what to focus on next. I challenge anyone to not be captivated by it.
I couldn’t pick which act was my favourite, and for those of you that haven’t seen it, I wouldn’t want to ruin it. But one thing I will say is that I walked away feeling amazed at the lengths the human body can go to and how little most of utilise it to it’s fullest capacity.
As soon the curtains came up, I wanted to see it all over again immediately. I was completely taken in by the make believe world and the universal language they spoke and sang it. I had never considered running away with the circus until then!
The show is running until the end of February and you can get tickets for it here: https://www.cirquedusoleil.com/united-kingdom/london/amaluna/buy-tickets

Once you see one, you just keep craving for more! If you ever get a chance to see one of their shows in Vegas, do it. It’s even a bigger production. It’s too bad I missed the one showing in London right now. It started showing right when we left.

Yes, it’s on all the time, including holidays. They have multiple shows running at different hotels. I’d recommend going for sure!

I couldn’t catch it at the Royal Albert Hall when I was in London in August so during my second trip in September, I went to Manchester specifically to catch it there! It was STUNNING ❤

Glad you enjoyed it too and we’re able to catch it somewhere else! It’s possibly the best stage show I have seen!
