I am a big lover of all things steak and burgers, last year I wrote a blog post on my favourite places to catch a burger in London, which you can read here and I wanted to share my favourite meat restaurants in this fantastic city.
There are so many on my to visit list, but I thought I would share my favourites from the places I have visited so far:
Flat Iron
For a £10 steak you really can’t complain, admittedly I could easily eat two of them, but the meat is succulent and the sides are exquisite. My absolute favourite being creamed spinach. I have only ever visited the Soho branch, but the dim lighting and music make for a romantic atmosphere.

Gaucho
I had been desperate to visit this place ever since I heard about it two years ago and thankfully convinced my pops to take the family there for a celebratory meal earlier this year. The different cuts of meat are brought to you on a slab and described in detail for you to choose. I went all out and had a fillet steak which felt as though it melted on my tongue as I ate it. The sides were just as impressive as the mains including fat twice cooked chips, humita saltena and whole roasted cauliflower cheese. Despite the heftier price tag, for me it was definitely worth every penny.
Hawksmoor
I have only ever tried a roast dinner at this place – I have yet to sample their steaks, but I can say without a doubt it was the BEST roast dinner I have ever had. The meat was as pink as it looks in the picture, and although the exceptionally large onion was questionable, it’s still somewhere that’s definitely worth paying a visit if you like your meats.
Black Lock
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant, again I went to the branch in Soho which was set in a dimly lit restaurant that was apt for Tinder dates. We ordered the ???? and received the most colossal plate of meat I had ever seen. Whilst it wasn’t as juicy as Flat Iron or Gaucho, I loved the variety of meats that we could try in one go. Plus they had an interesting range of (very strong) £5 cocktails. What’s not to love?!

Chicken Town
I wouldn’t normally choose chicken over red meat, but Time Out had hailed this place as the best chicken restaurant in all of London and I was in the area, I decided to pay it a visit. The place felt more like a school canteen and lacked any form of atmosphere but the chicken was incredible and the sides hefty in size, it also helped that the food was pretty decently priced. If I was ever in Tottenham again I would definitely pay it a visit.

Is there anywhere you lovely people have visited that I haven’t included on this list?!

Thank you very much Pete 🙂 Glad you like the blog! I’ve visited Bodeans before but made the rookie error of ordering pork ribs instead of beef ribs and left not enjoying the place, but maybe it’s time I gave it another try!

I wish I lived in London to try all these restaurants! The dish from flat iron looks so appetizing! It has marvelous color and grill pattern, cut at just the right lengths. I can imagine the first bite, full of juice and fat, with whatever seasoning it has.

Thank you! The thing I love most about the dish from Flat Iron is it only costs £10! Which for London AND a steak is peanuts.

I’m guessing that’s like $8 here. It’s a bargain.

Just reading the title to this blog made me smile. The internet is chockablock with thoughts on ‘how to be a good vegan’ and ‘the best places to eat with no dead animals on the menu’; as likeminded lover of meat, I fully appreciate this post. You’ve got a really versatile blog and I enjoy reading your posts.

Thank you 🙂 appreciate it! I know what you mean about healthy eating blogs, it’s almost as though there is a stigma attached to promoting that you don’t always eat greens! X

People say Hawksmoor is good, Had steak there and was majorly underwhelmed, shared some roast which was quite nice but the meh~ steak dampened the experience
